Housing Director Named by CEO
(SANTA ANA) – Paula Burrier-Lund, currently the deputy executive director of the San Diego Housing Commission, has been selected as the County’s new director of Housing and Community Development, County Executive Officer Jan Mittermeier announced today.
While at San Diego, Burrier-Lund was responsible for the Housing Commission’s finance, policy, program development, community relations and loan management operations. She has 15 years of senior level management experience in housing and community development and has previously worked as manager of Community Development Block Grant programs with the County of Los Angeles, director of Housing and Community Development for the City of Lawndale and manager of Housing and Redevelopment for the City of Santa Monica.
Burrier-Lund will lead the County’s Housing Department that has an annual operating budget of $27 million and a staff of 100 employees. It also serves as the housing agency for 14 cities as well as the unincorporated areas of the County, and it provides Section 8 rental assistance to low-income and disabled persons.
"Paula has exactly the kind of experience and knowledge that we need to lead the Housing Department," said Mittermeier. "She has worked in close cooperation with for-profit and nonprofit development entities; federal, state and other local government agencies; as well as industry associations concerned with local community development issues. We will benefit from the insight into these issues that she brings."
Burrier-Lund starts her new job on March 29.
She holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of California, Berkeley: one in public health and one in psychology. She also has a master’s degree in architecture and urban planning from the University of California, Los Angeles.
