MITTERMEIER APPOINTS FINAL ASSISTANT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
(SANTA ANA) - County Chief Executive Officer Jan Mittermeier has appointed the County’s Director of Information Systems as interim Assistant CEO for information and technology. Leo E. Crawford, Information Systems director for two years and a County employee for 10 years, assumes his new responsibilities immediately.
"The County has never had a centrally coordinated perspective on information systems and technology," said Mittermeier. "Leo will help us look at how we can use technology to better work together across agencies and departments and to more efficiently serve the public."
Crawford received his bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University and holds a graduate degree in computer systems management. Prior to joining the County in 1987, he served 20 years in the Air Force and retired as a lieutenant colonel. His assignments included telecommunications, data processing and satellite tracking and control.
"The formalized corporate view of automation and technology is something that has been missing from the County," said Crawford. "I’m excited about taking this new step and working on the technology aspect of the County’s restructuring plan."
Crawford’s appointment completes the naming of all five assistant CEOs, positions that were approved by the Board of Supervisors last June as part of the County’s internal restructuring. The other positions oversee the functions of finance, human resources, strategic affairs and public affairs.
