Public Works - a division of the Resources & Development Management Department (RDMD) - is responsible for providing regional flood control for the county, road system construction, and maintenance and management for unincorporated areas. “But our effects are much more far reaching,” said Public Works Director Herb Nakasone.
“We facilitate the county property permits process, administer engineering expertise, and handle such programs as surveying, mapping, maintenance of public buildings and other infrastructure such as drainage and pavement improvements - things that aid in the health, safety, comfort and quality of life of county residents,” Nakasone said.
The division has an annual operating budget of more than $200 million.
Making Orange County a safe, healthy, and fulfilling place to live, work, and play, today and for generations to come, by providing outstanding, cost-effective regional public services.
