CEO Tom Mauk Appoints Social Services Agency Director

(Santa Ana, CA) – County Executive Officer Tom Mauk today appointed a leader with nearly 40 years experience in the social services arena to the position of Social Services Agency (SSA) Director. Ingrid Harita, who has worked for the County of Orange for 22 years, will assume the Director’s spot on July 22 upon the retirement of Angelo Doti, the current SSA Director.

Harita is currently the Executive Division Director for Adult Services and Assistance Programs, a division with 1,290 employees and more than 300,00 clients per month. The division includes Adult Protective Services, In-Home Supportive Services, Medi-Cal, Food Services and Medical Services for the Indigent.

She has held management positions in all divisions of SSA including Children & Family Services, Administration and GAIN (Greater Avenues for Independence), the forerunner of Cal WORKS. Prior to joining the County, Harita’s experience in social services spanned involvement in public and private agencies in Canada, Texas and California.

“The County and the residents of Orange County will be well served by the depth of knowledge that Ingrid brings to this position,” said Mauk. “In a time when we face multiple challenges, it will be an enormous asset that she can hit the ground running. I look forward to the contributions she’ll make to our organization.”

Harita has a bachelor of arts from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a master of social work degree from the University of Houston.

The Social Services Agency, one of the County’s largest, has nearly 4,000 employees and a budget of approximately $662 million.

Harita will report to Bill Mahoney, Deputy CEO for Government and Public Services. Her annual salary will be $145,850.
