County Exposition Commemorates "The Forgotten War"

(Santa Ana)- Almost 1,000 re-enactors dressed in U.S military uniforms from the last 225 years will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Korean War on Memorial Day weekend.

The event, "Marching Through History," will feature re-enactments and authentic encampments from the American Revolution through Desert Storm at the County Operations Center, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Santa Ana.

Active and reserve military units and the Tustin Young Marines are participating in the event, which is the result of a partnership between the County of Orange, the United Veterans Organizations of Orange County, and the Orange County Veterans Advisory Council.

On May 25 an educational program for Orange County students will kick-off the event. The program will teach history by using actors to re-create historical military events.

The event is free and open to the public May 26 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and 27 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m., May 28. Veteran organizations, County departments and retail venders will be present throughout the weekend.
