Some Veterans Can Save Money On Dependent's Education
(SANTA ANA) -- Veterans with service-connected disabilities may be able to save money on their dependents' tuition at California universities, colleges and community colleges. Through California's Fee Waiver Program, dependents of former military personnel who have a service-connected disability are exempt from paying tuition fees while they attend a state school. The program does not apply to private schools or to non-residents of California, and it only applies to state schools within California.
For further information, call the Veterans Service Office at 714.567.7450, and ask to speak with a Claims Officer. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
"The County's Office of Veterans Services is here to assist veterans and their dependents," said Melendez. "We'd be glad to help Orange County veterans, even those who have never filed a claim for the service-related injury, investigate eligibility for this worthwhile program."
