CEO Appoints Director for John Wayne Airport
(SANTA ANA) - County Executive Officer Jan Mittermeier today announced the appointment of Alan L. Murphy as director of John Wayne Airport (JWA). Murphy will be responsible for the oversight of all airport activities, and will continue to serve as the Aviation Team Leader for the MCAS El Toro Master Development Program.
Murphy served as the Interim Assistant Airport Director since April 1999 and assisted the Interim Director in the day-to-day operations of the Airport. Prior to his interim appointment, Murphy served as the Deputy Airport Director of Facilities at JWA. In that position he was responsible for the activities of four divisions including Airport Development, Engineering, Maintenance, and Planning and Environmental Compliance. During his tenure at JWA, Murphy also directed the construction of the $310 million Airport Improvement Project in which the new Thomas F. Riley Terminal was constructed.
"I will work with JWA staff to ensure the continuation of the high quality service our residents have come to expect," said Murphy. "It is my goal to keep JWA one of the safest and most efficient airports in the nation."
"I've worked with Alan for many years and I have complete confidence in his abilities," said Mittermeier. "We are fortunate that he already had solid experience with JWA. He’s an excellent manager and I'm confident that he will do a great job."
