Supervisor Janet Nguyen Sworn In For First Full Term
State Senator Mimi Walters administers the oath of office to Supervisor Janet Nguyen at the Tuesday, January 13, 2009 Orange County Board of Supervisor’s meeting.
(Santa Ana)—With her family, friends and supporters watching, Supervisor Janet Nguyen was sworn in yesterday for her first full term as Supervisor for the First District. Supervisor Bill Campbell who represents the Third District also was sworn in for his final term in office on the Board of Supervisors.
After taking the oath of office, Supervisor Nguyen was quickly elected Vice Chair by her colleagues, while last year’s Vice Chair Patricia Bates was elected Chair. This year marks the beginning of Supervisor Nguyen’s first, four-year term on the Board of Supervisors.
“It is with a sense of both pride and honor that I accept the oath of office to serve the residents of the First District in what is now my first full term,” Supervisor Nguyen. “Elections come and go, but it’s the trust and confidence of the people that is the fuel that drives my commitment to serve. Without that trust and confidence of the people of the First District, I would not have this opportunity to serve today.”
“It is still astounding to me to stand here, an immigrant, having the opportunity to give back to the adopted homeland that has given me and my family our new life. To the people of the First District and the residents of Orange County, I look forward to being your advocate every step of the way,” Supervisor Nguyen said.
