(Santa Ana) Supervisor Janet Nguyen, Chair of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, joined several members of the Garden Grove Downtown Business Association in unveiling the new gateway arch marking the entrance to the Historic Main Street Business District in Garden Grove on Friday, February 26, 2010.

“I want to thank all those involved in making this project a reality,” said Supervisor Janet Nguyen.

While funding was allocated by Supervisor Nguyen, there were many others who contributed to bringing this project to life, including Garden Grove Councilman Andrew Do, Garden Grove Planning Commissioner Tom Bonikowski, former Garden Grove Planning Commissioner and current Deputy Chief of Staff to Supervisor Nguyen, Nick Lecong, Myke Cossota of the Garden Grove Administrative Appeals Board, Scott Weimer of Weimer and Associates, the Garden Grove Downtown Business Association, Chris Canzone of C & C Signs, designer Dan MacLeith from Pacific Westline and Lynn Lewis of Family Signs.

Historic Main Street in downtown Garden Grove was established in 1874 and is home to several restaurants and long-time businesses. Crowds gather each Friday night (weather permitting) to enjoy a classic car show. For more information about Historic Main Street, visit

“Historic Main Street is a wonderful reminder of Garden Grove’s past and its revitalization in recent years provides a connection to the future,” said Supervisor Janet Nguyen. “There are businesses that have been a part of the fabric of this community for many years and there are those that have opened only recently. This gateway arch is a landmark that can draw visitors and additional businesses to this area, thus providing a visual reminder of the importance of Historic Main Street to the residents and businesses in this city.”
