After a yearlong closure, the 7th Street bridge that connects commuters from Orange County to Long Beach reopened Friday morning. The closure was part of the West County Connectors project that aimed to improve traffic flow by connecting carpool lanes on the 405 Freeway to the 605 Freeway and 22 Freeway. The connector was closed last April, torn down and reconstructed so that new carpool lanes on the 405 Freeway could be added beneath the bridge. For Long Beach residents, reopening the valuable bridge meant just one thing: Relief.
Making Orange County a safe, healthy, and fulfilling place to live, work, and play, today and for generations to come, by providing outstanding, cost-effective regional public services.
