As County Supervisor, I sit on numerous Boards, Committees and Commissions which provide me many opportunities to better serve my constituents.
One meeting I especially look forward to is the monthly Orange County Coastal Coalition which I co-chair along with Supervisor John Moorlach. Water quality in our watersheds and at our beaches is critical to the wonderful quality of life we enjoy in South County. I truly believe the Coastal Coalition contributes to improving our beaches because of the opportunity it provides to address complex issues on a regional scale versus a piece meal approach.
The Coastal Coalition is a broad group of stakeholders who share a common interest in improving the water quality of our coastal watersheds. Every 4th Thursday of the month, guest speakers give presentations on various topics related to water quality, water conservation and habitat stewardship. Participants represent a broad range of interests including local and state government, non-profit groups, special districts and developers.
Each one of us lives upstream from someone else so it’s important to remember that our actions have downstream consequences. Our Coastal Coalition meetings are open to the public and I encourage all to attend.
