Assembly Bill No. 1234 (Chapter 700, Statutes of 2005) imposed requirements on certain public officials to complete an ethics training every two years. These requirements are codified in Cal. Govt. Code § 53234 through 53235.2.

Note: In addition, County Counsel has prepared self-study training materials in accordance with guidelines issued by the California Attorney General and the FPPC. While the County Counsel self-study training material suffices in meeting AB1234 ethics training requirements, the FPPC's online training module provides in-depth comprehensive review of the relevant issues. The FPPC Training module is free and accessible online. Public officials may continue to take training from other certified providers as well. For the remainder of 2016, public officials requiring training per Board policy may also complete the ethics training through the County Counsel self-study program.
