For ridesharing, you will receive a “Commuter Club” card honored by local retail merchants for special discounts, a special thank you gift each year and chances to win one of the quarterly drawings. First, check the current “Carpool Classifieds” listing and send an e-mail to the rideshare office so you can contact County employees that are interested in carpooling from your area. If you like taking the train and sign up for the Commuter Choice monthly pass program through payroll deductions, you’ll receive the first month free. Are you interested in joining or forming a vanpool group to commute to work? Click here for more information about vanpooling. Once you join a vanpool, you can ride free for one month by signing up for the Commuter Choice Program. That program allows you to purchase a voucher to pay for your monthly fare through the payroll deduction process so that your taxable income will be reduced by up to $125 per month. Start-A-Vanpool - This program is for any employee that leases a vanpool vehicle and forms a vanpool group with at least 3 other County of Orange employees. The employee leasing the vehicle will receive a $300 gift card after the vanpool has been on the road for three months and another $300 gift card after six months.
