Internship Position Description

Graphic Art/Design Intern - Auditor-Controller's Office   (unpaid internship)

Functions of Agency/Department:

The Auditor-Controller’s Financial Reporting Unit prepares the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and the OC Citizen’s Report, both reports present the County’s financial information. 

Intern Duties/Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, interns will design and prepare a variety of illustrative layouts for the CAFR, Budget Workbook, Tax Rate Book and the OC Citizen’s Report.  Interns will utilize MS Publisher and Adobe InDesign/Photoshop (CS 6) to design the covers and  layouts for various reports. 

Educational Requirements:

Internship is best suited for college students or recent graduates with background or experience in graphic arts who are working towards a career in graphic design.

Skills, Training or Qualifications:

This department is seeking students or recent graduates who express a sincere interest in a career in the field of graphic art/design.  This position is best suited for students with a graphic art background or other related fields, which includes graphic design coursework.  Experience with MS Publisher and Adobe Design Standard CS 6 are desired. 

Time Commitment:

This internship is project driven, and we are very flexible regarding scheduling.  Most students/recent graduates commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week over the spring or summer months and end the internship as projects are completed. Hours must be scheduled during normal business hours (Monday - Friday between 7 a.m.- 5 p.m.).

In addition, the intern's work will be credited in the publications to the extent of his/her contribution.
