Library Summer Reading Program

Teens are invited to volunteer with the "Paws to Read" summer reading program at the Garden Grove Regional Library. The program is designed to encourage children to continue reading during summer vacation so that valuable reading skills are not lost.

Volunteer Duties May Include One or More of the Following Activities:

  • Assist with story time
  • Help with craft projects and puppet shows
  • Create displays and decorate the children's library
  • Help with registration for the summer reading program
  • Record books read by children participating in the summer reading program

Minimum Age to Volunteer:

  • 14 years of age or entering the 9th grade

Skills or Qualifications Needed:

  • Ability to follow directions and work independently in a responsible manner
  • Ability to commit to required timeframe listed below

Time Commitment: Benefits of Volunteering:

  • Attend one orientation meeting
  • Schedule one or more two-hour shifts per week from June 23 through August 2
  • Volunteer shifts are available seven days per week during the following timeframes: M, T, W & Th. 10 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.; Fri. & Sat. 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; and Sun. noon - 4:30 p.m.

Please pick up an application at the children's section of the Garden Grove Regional Library.  The library is located at 11200 Stanford Avenue, Garden Grove, CA 92840.
