Santa Ana, Calif. (May 28, 2026) – The County of Orange and Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) today announced the availability of an online survey and informational workshops to gather public input to help update a new Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) for unincorporated areas of the County. This plan looks at how natural disasters may impact people, homes, infrastructure and essential facilities in those areas while identifying ways to reduce risks and strengthen community resilience.
Community Member Survey
Members of the public are asked to contribute to the planning process by taking a brief online survey. This survey is designed to gather information from Orange County residents and commuters to assist in informing and coordinating emergency-response activities with the goal of reducing the risk of personal injury or property damage. Informational Workshops
Public information workshops will take place on June 3, 2026, and August 5, 2026, to provide attendees with the opportunity to participate in the planning process. The June workshops will feature an open house format where participants can comment on the preliminary hazard ranking, share their experiences with natural hazards, look up hazard areas near their home or work and speak with an expert from OCFA, OC Public Works or the County Emergency Manager. The August workshops will provide an overview of the draft plan and allow time for the public to submit their comments and ask questions about the plan findings.
